What Happens If Your LARA Case Isn't Resolved With a Consent Order?

4/26/2025

When a LARA licensing complaint can't be resolved through a consent order, the Attorney General's office files a formal administrative complaint, which must be answered within 30 days to avoid a default judgment. From there, the case proceeds through Michigan's administrative tribunal system — a process similar to a courtroom trial, but with a lower burden of proof (preponderance of the evidence) than a criminal case. In this video, Attorney Randall Levine walks through what to expect at the negotiation conference and, if necessary, at a full administrative hearing — and why having an experienced LARA defense attorney at every stage can mean the difference between keeping your license and losing your livelihood.
